DISCIPLESHIP

What’s the purpose?

The aim of a discipleship group is to build a Christ-centered community in order to encourage each other on our journeys, to challenge each other to be Saints, and to have fun while doing it!

Who is this for?

For teens in high school (ages 14-18)

What can I expect from a Discipleship Group?

You can expect to meet on a regular, consistent basis with a group of your friends and 1-2 adult mentors to discuss realities of the faith whether that be through a Bible Study, video series, sharing stories from one’s personal life, or just simply playing a game of Spikeball together.

The fundamental role of this group in the participant’s life is to give a sense of belonging within their parish community. This will be a place where they can be transparent with trusted peers and mentors on the matters most concerning them; they can feel understood in their experience and questions about the faith, yet be challenged to use critical thinking when it comes to those matters.

Then, at the end of their most formative years, these participants will have the skills, knowledge, and experience to go make their own discipleship groups wherever they go off to next in their adult journeys.

How can I get involved?

To be a teen participant, you just need to send fill out this interest form. Within a week, the Discipleship Coordinator will be reaching out to you regarding your form and to give more information about current opportunities.

To be an adult mentor, you need to send an email to the Director of Discipleship, Jenny Hill, regarding your interest. Within a week, the Director will contact you about onboarding and the training process to be a Discipleship Group Mentor.

UPCOMING EVENTS

High School Advent / Lenten Small Groups:

During the liturgical seasons of Advent and Lent, High Schoolers can join a small group that will journey to prepare their hearts more fully for Christmas or Easter. These groups have a study that

guides conversation, pick a spiritual practice to do together throughout the season, and come together once a week to discuss how this has been going (whether that be the spiritual practices, school, or their personal lives). More information on these groups and when to sign-up is to come.

Monthly High School Community Nights:

To build our High School community, once a month we host a “Community Fun Night” that aims to bring High Schoolers together for adventurous activity. This can include (but not limited to), movie nights, ice skating, laser tag, hiking trips, or pilgrimages. Information on these nights and what they will entail will be shared via the High School Ministry Flocknote.
